ABOUT Gracie Barra WOLVERHAMPTON
We are a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu academy located in Wolverhampton, West Midlands. We are one of the most elite Jiu-Jitsu academies in the United Kingdom. Headed by 3rd Degree Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt Nathan Roberts, we offer instruction for all adults and kids, teaching self-defence, groundwork, takedowns, submissions, and a rounded approach to Jiu-Jitsu.
Gracie Barra Wolverhampton follows the worldwide structure of teachings, created by Master Carlos Gracie Jr., adapting learning to suit students of all ages and levels.
We are constantly evolving our school to suit the needs of our students, enabling us to give them the best possible learning experience on their Jiu-Jitsu journey.

WHAT IS BRAZILIAN JIU-JITSU
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a form martial art that anyone can practice. Jiu-Jitsu incorporates a combination of self-protection, grappling, take downs, submissions, locks and holds.
Jiu-Jitsu is not about being big, strong, fit or young, it’s about understanding how to control and use the body that you have to your advantage. Thus learning the ability to defeat other opponents who are much bigger and stronger than you.
Jiu-Jitsu typically puts more emphasis on throws, locks, holds and submission techniques as compared to other martial arts which rely on striking techniques.
This is where strength is considered as an additional asset rather than a necessity in Jiu-Jitsu.
Through the safe practicing of the ‘gentle art’ students have found and experienced many benefits including, a better wellbeing, increase of confidence, improved focus, mental strength and discipline, resilience, self-defence and weight loss.
